The Uutela Forest Nature Trail is a 2 km circular route located by the sea in eastern Helsinki.
It is a marked and generally easy-to-navigate path, designed as a demanding accessible route. The trail features a fine crushed rock surface that is firm but includes some uneven sections with bumps. It is mostly 1.5 meters wide, with a few narrower points measuring around 1.2 meters, which still accommodate strollers and wheelchairs.
The route includes several steep hills, with the steepest ascent reaching a 16% incline.
In at least one spot, a level difference next to the path poses a fall hazard, as it is not bordered by railings. There are sea fortifications from the First World War in Skatanniemi, Uutela. The route to the tip of Skatanniemi runs through the fortified area.
This route offers a unique combination of old-growth forests, sea views, and historical features like WWI fortifications, and despite its challenges, the accessible route allows a wider range of visitors to experience the ecological and cultural richness of eastern Helsinki.
