Ada Ciganlija Lake, including Ada Safari; Balkans, Serbia

Ada Ciganlija jezero, uključujući i Adu Safari; Balkan, Srbija

Located in the heart of Belgrade, Ada Ciganlija is a unique urban retreat with rich historical and natural heritage

Its easy access by public transport, inclusive facilities for people with reduced mobility, and a wide range of sports and leisure activities make it one of the city’s most popular destinations. Ada offers ideal conditions for swimming, kayaking, cycling, volleyball, basketball, rollerblading, and golf. Nature lovers can enjoy bird watching, walking paths, and fishing.

Hygienic facilities and drinking water are available throughout, along with areas for picnics and barbecues. The area benefits from a special microclimate due to its position between the Sava River, an artificial lake, and surrounding woodland, making it noticeably cooler in summer.

Savsko Jezero (Sava Lake), created in 1967, is central to Ada’s appeal. Its clean waters, regulated by dams and used in part for drinking and purification, are strictly protected. Groomed lake beds help maintain water quality. Around the lake, there are 70+ cafes, a 7 km walking path, and an 8 km cycling/rollerblading lane.

During the season, a small tourist train helps visitors explore the area. Ada Safari, at the northern tip, is a smaller lake ideal for sport fishing. It features free-roaming animals, a mini zoo with birds and exotic animals, and is a haven for birdwatching, including protected and migratory species like the pygmy cormorant. Ada Ciganlija proudly holds the “Blue Flag” for its high standards in water quality, safety, environmental protection, and public education.
